BRIEF
The clients had functional front and rear spaces having developed these a few years previously when they completed their main property works. However neither space worked particularly well for the intended usage. The front was bitty and divided, hard to maintain and visually unkept. The rear, whilst much more developed was largely un-used as the terracing was not friendly or practical with a large amount of the rear space ‘lost’ to overhanging planting and poor access

SOLUTION
The front required a general clear out of unwanted vegetation, formalising the main planting to frame the house approach and easier parking spaces. The rear space needed to be better accessed for adults and children, regain the lost parts of the garden to trees and shrub overgrowth whilst providing the clients with further space options

OUTCOME
A new front re-laid gravel driveway with edging, planting, pathway, threshold and lighting was adopted after the clearance tasks. Opening up the property, providing a much easier to maintain space with plenty of new space to park and turn vehicles. The rear involved extending the current middle terrace with new sleepers a lighter ’touch’ balustrade, new planting, lighting, pathways and lawn and a secret space for the children. The lower (reclaimed) space, was laid to lawn with a rejuvenated storage shed, new studio out-building, space for the children’s play equipment, their own steps and pathway, main central steps and renewed pathways. Boundary vegetation was cleaned up and in parts re-planted as well the more formal planting on the mid-terrace with the garden flower circle features
