OVERVIEW
We were invited to design a scheme for the newly acquired Winery at Kingscote, East Grinstead. We developed a scheme with the clients representatives to fully develop the existing assets such as the main Tithe Barn, access to the 160 acre landscape surround (once owned by the famous horticulturalist William Robinson), the River Medway and its fishing lakes. Added to those we were to develop a new winery production facility, visitor building and restaurant. Enclosed and open gardens, pathways, parking, lighting and seating were all to be designed in a walled around the barn and new winery building. Entrance ways and visual focal points to the landscape beyond were designed with bridges over the river, into the wildflower meadows and grapevine fields beyond. Several prominent trees were selected to house arbors and rest points for visitors too.
